Propane, Natural Gas Connectors Recalled by CPSC In March, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and LDR Industries (Chicago) announced the recall of 50,000 LDR Series 1200 gas connectors due to fire and explosion hazards. The gas connectors can leak propane or natural gas, said CPSC. No injuries have been reported. The recalled connectors, used primarily with gas space heaters, have 3/8-in. fine thread nuts attached. The brass nuts are gold colored, while the stainless steel tube is silver. The UPC code and LDR 1200 Series Gas Connector are printed on the products packaging. They were manufactured by Sai lin Ke (Beijing). Connectors included in the recall range from 12 to 72 inches in length. They were sold at hardware stores in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Florida from August 2007 through September 2007 for between $7 and $20. Consumers should immediately stop using the appliance with the recalled gas connectors. Only a qualified professional, such as a plumber, heating contractor, or gas company technician, should check the connectors and replace them. Contact LDR Industries or the place of purchase for instructions on returning the connectors for a full refund. For additional information, call LDR Industries at 800/545-5230 ext. 2345 or visit the firms website. |
